A Little About Lake Murray

Lake Murray is close to Columbia, South Carolina. It is an excellent producer of stripers (some over 40 pounds!), largemouth bass (some over 10 pounds!), catfish, bream, shellcracker, crappie fishing and much more. Docks and brush piles provide important cover to this lake that is 50,800 acres!

    Tony, Last August I wrote and you mentioned me in you monthly posting about catching perch in mid-lake. Your June 2012 tells about perch. I have yet to find them this year in any abundance below the S in the rivers? Where is this hot perch bite you mention – what part of the lake? Any general advice most wecome. I am still finding schooling stripers mid-lake; also jigged up seevral on flex-it spoons this past week end. Bruce

    i’ve been catching them real shallow, six feet or less on small crankbaits, i caught over 100 in 2 days!! all eaters!! i just run the banks with small crankbaits until i find them,,mainly in the buffalo creek area, and rocky creek!!!this heat will push them out deeper, in the mouth of the coves!!! flex it spoons should work really well…happy 4th to you!! Tony
