Hey!! How about this warm weather were getting this week, and hopefully beyond!! It should warm the water up pretty fast, so the fishing can get alot better than it is right now!! this is a warm welcome from a long cold winter.
The hot tip of the week is that the full moon is coming in!! The Bream and Shellcracker fishing has been good, But should be outstanding for next week. Warm temps and a full moon make for great Panfish fishing! Doesn’t get any better than that!!
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Thought for the week: The Bible is a useful tool as we face life’s tasks.
To say it’s been a long cold winter is probably an understatement? The good news is that the first day of spring is just a couple days away, and hopefully mother nature will cooperate!!
White Perch-this fishing has been smokin hot all winter, usually the colder it is the better the white perch fishing is, because the bait balls up and the perch are right there with em! Half ounce spoons have been the ticket all winter. Also i have incorporated the drop shot to catch them . the bait is a 2inch Gulp Berkley minnow about 5 inches above the sinker. they love it, and i have caught alot of White perch on the drop shot this year!!
Largemouth Bass- this fishing has been wide open the past couple of months. Monster bags have been weighed in at local tourneys. Crankbaits and jigs and shakey heads are catching alot of bass right now around docks and rocks. the bass are probably just itching to get to the banks to spawn!
Shellcrackers-We need some long sunny days for these fish to bite. 2pm till dark seems the best time to catch some mighty fine eatin Shellcrackers. 5 to 12 feet of water seems to be the best depth for them. Nightcrawlers and red worms as always is the best bait. points and secondary points with rocks is where i would fish!
Stripers- this fishing has been great also, some schooling action going on here and there. the best way to go is free lining live herring, or with planer boards. The water treatment plant and Ballentine cove have been the hot places as of the past few weeks.
It is god who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13
Thought for the week::: Where we may see only weeds, God sees a beautiful garden.
The smokin hot tip of the week would be that if your a White perch jerker, the fishin is on fire!!! The perch are still moving around a bit, but cooler temps like were having right now will slow them down a bit!! When you get on a school of them, you can pound them for awhile!! 1/2 ounce Berry’s flex it spoons are the super hot ticket right now!! There just hammering those things right now. 25 to 35 feet of water around lots of bait is the deal!!! I personally fish from the big gap up to where the rivers split. Stripers are also mixed in with them, which is a great bonus!! Cooler water temps will make this bite even better!! Get out there and get some super extreme smokin hot action on the great tasting White perch and Stripers!!
The testing of your faith produces endurance. James 1:3
Thought for the week: With God, we can work to feed the world-with food and love!!copyright
The hot tip of the week is that the Shellcracker bite is hotter than a big bonfire right now!! Rip rap banks, points and secondary points are the hot ticket right now! Red worms, night crawlers and crickets all working well right now! Fish split shot rigs or mini carolina rigs on the bottom in 5 to 10 feet of water. I move every 30 to 45 minutes. I cover alot of points and rip rap banks.
The striper bite is great from the gap up into Buffalo creek. The problem is that the majority of the fish are not keepers. Lots of culling to get 5 keepers. Cooler temps should help with bigger Stripers.
Paul wrote, ” I thank God, whom I serve, as my Ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day i constantly remember you in my prayers.” 2 Timothy 1:3
Thought for the week: we receive unexpected Blessings when we meet God in prayer.
The hot tip of the week would be the Striper fishing!! The lake has turned over and the Stripers are schooling!! Finally!! Some really great fishing to be had right now!! Main lake area seems to still be the best right now!! Zoom flukes, jerkbaits, bucktails and topwater baits should all work well for schooling Stripers!! Quick limits to be had right now, along with some great eating!! have a great week everyone!!
The Lord said, ” My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
thought for the week: When we are not at our best, God is.
To say it’s been a wet spring and summer is probably an understatement. It’s down right crazy how much rain we have been getting this year!!
Stripers- it seems the only way to catch stripers right now is with down lines and free lines!! Live herring in deep water! I don’t know anybody catching them any other way!! main lake area seems to be best right now!!
Largemouth Bass-This bite is really good early am. The frog bite has been on fire, also has the buzzbait bite!! After the morning starts getting hot, change to the shakey head!! i’m also getting reports of a good deep water crankbait bite!!
Catfish- as usual this time of year! the night bite is the right bite!! Fresh cut herring, bream, white perch and shrimp is a great way to go around points and humps at night!! as always make sure all your lights and flash light work before you leave the house!! And have plenty of bug spray on hand also!!
White perch-This bite is absolutely nuts!!! There everywhere. Shallow deep and in between!! Crazy bite right now!! Redworms on the bottom are working excellent right now!! Also Rapala countdown minnows are wearin out some white perch right now! There great when there shallow, which has been the case as of late!! These fish are great to eat by the way!!
The angel said to the women,” Go quickly and tell [ Jesus ] disciples: He has risen from the dead and is going into Galilee, There you will see him. Matthew 28:7
Thought for the week: We are always in God’s care.
Oh what a long wet, cool spring it’s been!! The heat looks to be coming in soon! With warming water temps, the fishing should get real good, reel fast!!
Stripers- this fishing is best freelining live herring! There’s not alot of schooling action going on right now! main lake areas seem to be the best bet! Better fishing should be right around the corner!
Shellcrackers and Bream- this fishing is great in 5 to 10 feet of water around secondary points and main lake points!! Even around the islands also!! Red worms fished on the bottom is best!! they haven’t started to chase artificial baits just yet! Such as small crankbaits and spinners.. The water still needs to warm up a bit!!
Catfish- is great during day and night!! Worms or fresh cut bait is great around secondary points, main lake points, humps and the islands!!
I hope to have better reports, with better fishing soon!! We need some warm weather to really kick things into gear!!! Have a great week everyone!!!
Whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our Faith. 1 John 5:4
thought for the week: God is with us when life shakes us and unsettles us.
The hot tip of the week would be the Striper fishing!! Right now the Striper fishing is pretty much great all over right now!! River fishing is great, all the way up to the dam. Free lining live bait is a great way to go right now! But there has been some schooling action going on. There are absolutely crushing jerkbaits and the good ole faithful fluke!! Bucktails, rattle traps, and swimbaits are also catching some nice fish right now!! Warmer days are right around the corner. So get out and get some of the hot action right now!!
Largemouth Bass- this action is great also! The weekend tourneys are producing sacks over 20 pounds, pretty much every weekend! Umbrella rigs, shad raps, jerkbaits, jigs and shakey heads are all producing big largemouth bass right now! Points and sun drenched boat docks are all the rave right now!! Get out there and get some!!!
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
thought for the week-In God’s kingdom, each of us will blossom and bear good fruit.
Happy Valentines Day!! Maybe your sweetie gave you some new fishing equipment?? How has everyone winter been?? The weather has been up and down all winter. Warm for a few days, then cold for a few days! Seems to have been the crazy pattern!! Spring is right around the corner! The fishing has been good for me all winter, and is getting better!!
Largemouth Bass- this fishing is really good right now. Taking over 20 pounds to win the weekend tourneys!! The typical patters apply. jigs around deep rockpiles! Crankbaits around secondary points, and jerkbaits, jerkbaits, jerkbaits!!! Can you tell jerkbaits are hot right now? Have been very good to me this winter!!
Shellcrackers- as of late this fishing is smokin hot right now in the main lake area!! The lake level has been on the rise with all the rain!! The shellcrackers are shallow back in the trees and flooded cover! Some are very hard to reach by boat!! The main lake has been hot because the water seems to remain pretty clear. the water from the gap up is pretty stained to even muddy!! So i would look for them in the main lake creek channel areas. As always red worms seem to be the bait of choice!
Stripers- seems to be good all over right now! Free lining live herring is the go to method, even with planer boards. But casting bucktails and spoons has been great also!! Stripers are in the river section, also in the gap, and some even in the mouth of the main lake creek channels!!! Just look for concentrations of birds being active!! If there not then move on to another area!!
White Perch-This is hit and miss because they seem to be all over the place right now!! Were not having a very cold winter? So it’s not concentrating them into large tight schools! Just here and there. So you have to look for them, maybe for awhile with your electronics! They can be in 20 feet of water to even 50 feet of water? Really depends on the weather! Sometimes in 10 feet of water! I have found them from the gap way up into the rivers! But as always the half ounce flex it spoons are choice for them!! They love the jiggin spoon!!
Spring and greater fishing is right around the corner!! Have a great week everyone!
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:25-26
Thought for the week:: Those who lean on God’s love always have reason for hope!!
Is this crazy or what!!!! It’s December and feels like a warm spring day! Well i guess we will take while we can, because it leads to this!!
Shellcrackers- Once again, this fishing is on FIRE!!!!!!! Hotter than a bonfire on a cold winters night!!! Redworms is the hot producer for these fish!! they just can’t resist em!!! 5 to 10 feet of water has been the key depth for these fish!! Take it from me, if your not fishing for Shellcrackers right now?? Your missing out!!!
Largemouth Bass- This fishing is outstanding from the Big Gap up into the rivers!! Bass are cruising all over the shallows right now!! For a keeper bite, Fish Shakey heads and carolina rigs deeper, as in 10 feet of water or more..Secondary points, and deep docks!! Now for a pure fun numbers bite!!! Run the shallows with a small jerkbait, as in 4 inches or less!!! The bass are just crushing these things right now!!!! I use a Rapala countdown minnow, or a floating minnow!!!! 3 inch or 4 inch!! They will probably eat a 4inch senko also!!!
Stripers-This has been hit and miss for me???? i guess because the hot bite is up in the rivers..I haven’t been up there yet!! But i do know from my friends that the bucktail jig with the ice fly trailer has been producing alot of fish!!! Blacks bridge area has been hot!!!
White perch–i’m going to have to seek professional help! Because i’m addicted to the perch jerking!! Fast a furious action, from the gap up to the rivers. Berrys flex it spoons are the ticket here!!! Find bait and the perch are right there with them!! 30 to 40 feet of water has been the magic depth..remember, the colder it gets, the better this bite will get!!! Love it!!! Gonna cacth some perch tommorrow!! Tip of the week for perch!! If they won’t hit a berry spoon? Tie on a Cotton Cordell 3/8 silver spoon!! Lighter and a bit smaller, but they can’t stand it!!!!!!!
